The passion of the Highlands of Scotland.
Having lived in or around the Highlands most of my life and subsequently taken early retirement I have an extensive knowledge of people, places and products built up over many years whilst driving my Moto Guzzi motorcycles, walking long distance routes, ticking off Corbetts*, and sailing around Highland coastlines and islands.
As a keen motorcyclist (Member of the Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists) and also a previous Commodore of Cromarty Boat Club I can also offer guiding services on motorcycle tours or yacht cruising.
From mid 2021 I hope to be able to offer hill walking and eBike tour guiding to pursue some "slow tourism" notions.
Continued professional development:
- Outside First Aid training - attained / completed.
- Attending in person or remotely of various Scottish tourism, & history / archaeology webinars and lectures.
- NOSAS (North of Scotland Archeological Society) member.
- Started to learn Gaelic; the main indigenous language of the Highlands until the 19th century.
Gaelic is naturally extremely useful for determining the origin of the "linguistic landscape" of the Highlands.
* Corbetts are the 222 hills in Scotland greater than 2500 feet high, and less than 3000 feet.
