I’m a proud Highlander, and hugely passionate about all things Scottish. Over the years I’ve loved researching Scotland’s rich and tumultuous history, its world famous geology and fascinating archaeology, its legendary folklore and its varied landscape, wildlife, villages and people – and, of course, I now love to share what I know with anyone who’s willing to listen.
Who knew a non-whisky drinker would relish doing whisky tours? Is it wrong to have a fascination with Highland graveyards? But there’s definitely nothing wrong with falling in love with Jamie Fraser or Outlander! Yes, I’m a big Outlander fan, and have a wealth of knowledge about the film location sites as well as the area which was at the heart of the historic Highland action.
My annual family holidays were spent touring the Highlands, and 20 years working in the Scottish tourism industry saw me travel the length and breadth of Scotland’s mainland and islands on a regular basis. So I like to think I know how to show off Scotland, and the Highlands and Islands in particular, at its very best.
Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time tracing my Scottish ancestry and building my family tree, and when I’m not busy guiding I’m a keen road cyclist and a wannabe photographer, I’m enjoying learning to curl during the winter months, and I love antique collecting … oh, and you should know, I love my cat most of all!
