Ian was brought up just South of Glasgow, he has had a long standing love affair with Scotland. From a young age Ian has had a enthusiasm for the adventurous side of the Scottish landscape and his twenties found him skiing, white water kayaking and walking in the hills of this beautiful country. His passion for Scottish culture came to fruition when he became part of a group called The White Cockade, a living history, re-enactment group who would travel the country bringing history alive to its audiences. Being introduced to this way of communicating Scotland’s history was to be a turning point in his life.
Ian’s love of the landscape has recently been reignited with his interest in photography. This new hobby is proving a great way of scouting out some truly sensational, less travelled spots, which he is only too happy to share with you.
His knowledge of Scottish history and culture from the Vikings, to the Scottish Wars of Independence, to the Jacobite Risings of 1745 is second to none. Couple this with a talent of making his love of Scotland feel fresh, fun and relevant makes him the ideal Personal Guide for your excursion.
His touring cars are a Mercedes Viano and a Hyundai i800. They carry up to seven passengers, these are roomy cars which are fully air conditioned. All of Scotland covered, Driver-guiding and ‘hop on’

A native Scot from the south west Highlands, I now live in Morayshire. I have worked for the Scottish Health Service and travelled frequently and extensively throughout the Highlands for the past 20 years often orienting new employees to the region. I learned German over a period of 7 years as a soldier in the British army in Germany between 1965 and 1972. I am proud of our Highland heritage and culture and knowledgeable about its current social and economic situations.
I am an avid skier, a keen golfer and enjoy most outdoor activities. My interests include postage stamp collecting, historic buildings, my 5 grandchildren and classical music.

Whilst enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Scotland, we will entertain you with enthralling stories of the people who once lived in the places we visit.  And, if you are eager to discover more about Highland dress, Highland games and other customs particular to Scotland, we will certainly satisfy your curiosity.

My photo shows one of my favourite Highland views, looking down Loch Shiel. By the loch is the Glenfinnan Memorial, commemorating the start of the 1745 Jacobite Uprising under Prince Charles Edward Stuart.

I have lived in and loved the Scottish highlands forever! A second generation Australian, born into a long line of Scots who maintained the strong traditions and culture of Scotland. My love affair with the ancestral homeland led us to join the returning diaspora, in 2003. Having tour guided in Australia, England and Europe I gained my Scottish Tour Guide accreditation and thoroughly enjoy sharing the history and beauty of our dramatic Highlands. As a local, I offer excellent local knowledge which will enhance your experience here.

I provide shore excursions from cruise ships (Scrabster and Invergordon), step-on coach tours for companies, driver/ guiding for small groups and individuals and city walking tours (starting points are Thurso, Wick, Dornoch, Inverness or as agreed). The Highlands are a unique destination, blending the energy of our thriving capital city Inverness with the great outdoors on the doorstep. The north is a superb area of heritage and culture, not to mention mysts, myths and legends that abound. Have you heard about the Selkies?

My most popular special interest tours are: North Coast 500; Inverness and Loch Ness; Clan Genealogy; Clans, Cairns and Castles; WW2 in Caithness; Footsteps of the Queen Mother in Caithness; The Caithness Experience; Highland Whisky Trail; Pictish Trail; and Highland Outlander.

Standard tours or tours tailored to your specific interests, will enthrall you with our amazing mountains, lochs and glens, dramatic coastlines and wildlife and clan and Viking links to our turbulent Scottish history. I look forward to welcoming you to our dramatic Highlands, and to turning your touring dreams into a reality!

I was born and brought up in the beautiful, fertile and historic Black Isle just north of the city of Inverness. I have always had an interest in local history and culture, and as an engineer I’ve watched the developing industries make use of our geography and natural resources. Sit back and let me tell you what’s made us the ‘Highlanders’ who we are today.

The fascination with Scotland started as a student of English, back in Argentina where I originally come from. Little did I know then, that a few years later, I would be living in the heart of the Highlands, having such a wonderful landscape at my doorstep. Since moving here in 2002 I have been working as an interpreter for various whisky companies which organise whisky tours as part of their PR activities.
Over the next few years, my knowledge about Scottish history and culture increased and, Spanish being my mother tongue, I soon started guiding Spanish-speaking groups of tourists around the area, hoping they feel as fascinated with this wonderful place as I still do.

My own love of Scotland was formed from an early age as I was brought up in some of the most beautiful and iconic locations we have to offer: from the Highlands to Edinburgh, St Andrews to celebrated Royal Deeside. And I don’t just live here– I actively choose to holiday here too, so I know the ins and outs of being a visitor in Scotland.  My “past life” has also seen me work and travel extensively abroad, giving me a firm understanding of what makes or breaks a holiday whether you are part of a group or a solo traveller.

I delight in creating “the best Scottish holiday”, and would love to guide you around Scotland, giving you a unique insight into our beautiful country. I will take you to see our most stunning and dramatic scenery together with our iconic locations, while weaving in our incredible history and rich culture along the way.

I truly feel that Scotland is here for the exploring and I am delighted to extend an enthusiastic and warm welcome to you.

The Highlands and Islands of Scotland are characterised by dramatic, ever-changing scenery. This enchanting part of the world is also home to dynamic and creative communities.

Born in Ayrshire in the Scottish Lowlands, I have lived in the Highlands for many years, working in radio and print journalism and covering a wide range of topics. Travel writing has given me the opportunity to explore distant locations. However, my favourite adventures have taken place at home in Scotland where I have stayed in luxurious castles and explored remote and spectacular places on foot, by water and on horseback.

I am a proud member the Scottish Tourist Guides Association and holder of the Green Badge qualification. This is an accredited and internationally recognised regional qualification, gained through study at the University of the Highlands and Islands.

There is considerable common ground between my two careers. A good piece of writing fulfils an editorial remit. An excellent tour, meanwhile, is founded on thorough research and tailored to the needs of guests, so that commentary unfolds like a compelling story, bringing to life key themes and lesser known stories. Be my guest and together we will discover people and places beyond anything to be found in a guide book.
