Specialities: Landscape, History, Whisky, Geneaology, Golf

I have shared the delights of Scottish life and landscape with visitors to the country for over thirty years. As a professional geologist I began my guiding activities in the 1970’s when I led field trips and study tours to some of the most wild and beautiful places in the Highlands and Islands.
Over the next twenty years my knowledge and understanding of the history and culture of all things Scottish has made me much in demand for summer schools and lectures by some of Scotland’s Universities, both ancient and modern. Subjects ranging from whisky and water to Scottish Country Houses, Golf and Genealogy have entranced and entertained locals and visitors alike. I am a Blue Badge member of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association, the only professional geologist to be fully qualified to guide throughout Scotland. I am also a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.

Specialities: Hiking, nature & the environment, Scottish history.

I’m Scottish and have had the privilege to live in the Highlands of Scotland since 1972. I love everything about here – the fascinating and turbulent history, the varied wildlife and nature, the cultural heritage, the amazing views and landscape and, of course, the wonderful people. As a Chartered Geologist and the former Geologist for the Highlands, I am especially well placed to tell you a wee bit about our rocks and the dramatic landscapes and their origins. I’m very much a “people person” and I look forward to welcoming you and introducing you to our wonderful Highlands, our history and culture, and to showing you the natural wonders of our amazing and unspoilt environment.

Day Coach, Driver Guiding, Wildlife Walking
Specialities: Culture, History, Music, Wildlife

Raised on the family farm on the West Coast of Scotland, I grew up with a love of the countryside and animals. Arriving in the Highlands in 1984 I started Highland Discovery Tours and since then have enjoyed showing people from all over the world Scotland’s historical landmarks along with special and lesser-known hidden places. As an experienced guide I am keen to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for the Highlands, the rich natural history along with traditional & modern culture. In my spare time I love renovating properties and furniture. I am also learning my most treasured possession – the Great Highland Bagpipe (out of earshot!). I am happy to take walking groups, coach trips, either driving or just guiding and create tailor-made itineraries. I look forward to meeting with you soon! I have a full PCV [bus] licence.

Day and half-day tours.

Born and raised in southern Scotland, I have lived in the Highlands for more than 30 years, where I have worked for both the National Trust for Scotland (at Culloden Battlefield) and for the Highland Council, building my local knowledge and developing a keen interest in all things Highland, old and new. Although new to guiding as such, I have long enjoyed sharing my love of this beautiful area with visitors from different parts of the world.

Day Coach, Extended Coach, Driver Guiding
Specialities: Driver guide, own 7-seater, Highlands, History , Landscape

I was born and raised in the Highlands, inheriting the mantle of Seanachaidh (or Storyteller) from my mother. From earliest times I learned the span of Highland history, culture, flora and fauna. I later studied Geography, Geology and Scottish History at Glasgow University.
Mixing these ingredients with Guide training, entertainment and humour allows me to create successful tours to some of the most stunning locations in the country. I am also qualified in Ancestral Tourism, and have written a number of books including “Roots of Stone” and “Culloden Tales”. Why not take a trip in my fully-insured, roomy 7-passenger people carrier?

STGA Blue Badge Guide. Speciality: Scottish History and Culture

Born in Inverness and educated in England, I have spent more than half my life in the N.E. of Scotland. I have always worked with people and love showing visitors the beauties of Scotland and giving them an insight into our history and culture. Whilst training to be a guide, I worked on the open top buses taking people to Culloden, Cawdor Castle and Fort George and in a local winery which makes wines from the products of the countryside. I am a keen hill-walker and have travelled extensively in many countries thereby learning about other cultures.
At university, I studied French and Spanish and am qualified to guide in French. Having trained as a Blue Badge guide, I am happy to guide anywhere in Scotland and particularly enjoy extended tours but also city walking tours and driver-guiding.

Day and half-day tours, year-round.  Specialities: Archaeology/Prehistory, Folklore & Music, Natural world, Scottish History

Born and brought up in the Highlands I am passionate about all things Scottish and just love any opportunity to share this with visitors. The beauty, the history, an insight into everyday life past and present and of course the legends. Nothing like a good story to give a flavour of the place and the people. I love to show Scotland’s historical landmarks as well as the many, many hidden gems that are out there to be discovered and enjoyed.

I was a teacher in the Highlands. I chose a career in education because I wanted to share knowledge, because I love working with people and because I like to entertain, they do say teaching is not far removed from acting! I love meeting new people.

My other interests include travel, walking, theatre, reading, cooking, entertaining and gardening.
