I was born and raised in the Highlands, inheriting the mantle of Seanachaidh (or Storyteller) from my mother. From earliest times I learned the span of Highland history, culture, flora and fauna. I later studied Geography, Geology and Scottish History at Glasgow University.
Mixing these ingredients with Guide training, entertainment and humour allows me to create successful tours to some of the most stunning locations in the country. I am also qualified in Ancestral Tourism, and have written a number of books including “Roots of Stone” and “Culloden Tales”. Why not take a trip in my fully-insured, roomy 7-passenger people carrier?

Specialities: Wildlife and Walking
I am Lowlander by birth but a Highlander by inclination. I started my guiding career in 1995 with two years at Aigas Field Centre, just outside Inverness. I continued guiding groups in my various jobs after that. I moved back to the Highlands in 2005 and in March 2006 I started Red Kite Tours.
My main interest is wildlife guiding, but soon after I started guiding I realised no wildlife in Scotland lives beyond the influence of people. So I needed to understand the history, folklore, geology and place names of the Highlands to successfully interpret the exceptional landscape and wildlife found here to my guests.

Born and raised in a town south of Glasgow called East Kilbride but realizing I was spending too much time traveling to the Highlands for recreation, I decided to move here full time in 2003. Inverness has given me a fantastic way of life. The thing I love about living here is the easy access to some stunning and historically interesting places. I don’t have to go far to find something that makes my heart glad. Having a personal relationship with the area means that I can show you these places & entertain you with historical background that gives you a genuine flavour for the area.
My touring cars are a Mercedes Viano and a Hyundai i800. They carry up to seven passengers, these are roomy cars which are fully air conditioned. All of Scotland covered, Driver-guiding and ‘hop on’
