STGA

1/2 day, 1 day, extended, year round
Driver guide with own 7 Seat Vehicle, 4×4 and hire as required.

STGA Green Badge Guide for the Highlands, specialising in the North and East coast areas.
My family has been working the land in Scotland for generations, historically as sheep and cattle farmers, but the new generations have turned to golf for careers. I travelled the world as an engineer, but when a posting brought me back to the Highlands we couldn’t leave and we made our family home in Caithness.
I have a great interest in archaeology and have a Master’s Degree in Classics so can interpret many of the features of our landscape for you. I spend my time collecting stories of highland life, both historical and modern and I will enjoy sharing these with you.
My decades of experience as a cruise ship passenger taking excursions has given me a great insight into making the most of a day ashore so let me help you get the most out of shore-time. For those with a little more time, I can show you the ‘must-sees’ as well as those interesting little places that only a small vehicle or 4×4 can get you to. I will always tailor-make the tour for you.

HOSTGA

Day Coach, Extended Coach, Driver Guiding
Specialities: Driver guide, own 7-seater, Highlands, History , Landscape

I was born and raised in the Highlands, inheriting the mantle of Seanachaidh (or Storyteller) from my mother. From earliest times I learned the span of Highland history, culture, flora and fauna. I later studied Geography, Geology and Scottish History at Glasgow University.
Mixing these ingredients with Guide training, entertainment and humour allows me to create successful tours to some of the most stunning locations in the country. I am also qualified in Ancestral Tourism, and have written a number of books including “Roots of Stone” and “Culloden Tales”. Why not take a trip in my fully-insured, roomy 7-passenger people carrier?

Returned to Scotland in 2007 but have been visiting the Highlands for the past 40 years as am married to a Campbell. Have now been guiding for a few years and have thoroughly enjoyed showing Spanish-speaking tourists the beauty and the history of this region.

Brought up in Scone, Scotland’s ancient capital, I now work out of its Highland Capital, Inverness, in summer. In winter I fly south with the ospreys and tour guide in Africa.
As a qualified mountain leader I specialise in guiding in the mountains, glens and along the coastline of the north west of Scotland. Walks vary from strenuous to gentle strolls; it is important to enjoy the countryside at your own pace.

I also driver/guide. With experience in adult education (albeit as a ceramicist!) I love to share the history, geography, fables and anecdotes of our rich heritage with our guests in Scotland.

HOSTGA

Specialities: Hiking, nature & the environment, Scottish history.

I’m Scottish and have had the privilege to live in the Highlands of Scotland since 1972. I love everything about here – the fascinating and turbulent history, the varied wildlife and nature, the cultural heritage, the amazing views and landscape and, of course, the wonderful people. As a Chartered Geologist and the former Geologist for the Highlands, I am especially well placed to tell you a wee bit about our rocks and the dramatic landscapes and their origins. I’m very much a “people person” and I look forward to welcoming you and introducing you to our wonderful Highlands, our history and culture, and to showing you the natural wonders of our amazing and unspoilt environment.

Scotland is my home since 2011. I love the Highlands and Islands and their people. And sharing my passion for the mountains and seas. When I’m not guiding I am sailing and hiking. I am guiding all over Scotland. The islands my heart beats for the strongest are the Outer Hebrides. These are indeed magical islands where you will see vibrating colours and feel very much at ease as you are far away from everything. Anything from Golfing, Wildlife Watching, Hiking, Visiting art galleries or just Unwinding in Nature is possible. Talk to me for inspirations and I´d be happy to assist.

Recently qualified as a green badge guide for the North Highlands, I am brimming full of enthusiasm for showing visitors the delights of the Highlands, where I have lived and travelled extensively since 1997. My previous role as a charity event fundraising manager introduced me to the iconic scenery of the Highlands and developed my people and communication skills.
Whether you have interests in Scottish culture, history, wildlife, geology, stunning lochs and mountains or just want to chill in one of the most unique areas in the world, I would be delighted to guide you, and help create what I hope will be one of your most enjoyable and entertaining holidays.
I’m happy to guide on coaches, driver guide for up to 8 people or provide walking tours in the beautiful city of Inverness, where I am fortunate to live. The Highlands have been home to some amazing people and I want to share their stories with you….

STGA

half day, full day, extended, year-round, step-on guiding, driver guide (vehicle hired according to client requirements)

Over 20 years ago I first fell in fell in love with the Highlands, when I started working in Morayshire and Speyside. I am now based on the West Coast just a few miles from Glencoe where I live with my wife and young family. Spare time is spent exploring the hidden Highlands with the kids, clambering over ruined castles, strolling along ancient paths or finding seashells along deserted beaches.

I am delighted to explore the country I am proud to call home with visitors from around the world. Helping them discover more about its landscape, legends and history.

There is so much to offer across the Scottish Highlands and I can help individuals, small groups, coach parties, and corporate clients to discover it. Whether you are looking for city tour of Inverness, a more in-depth tour of Culloden Battlefield and the Jacobites, a day excursion around beautiful Loch Ness, or an extended trip island hopping along the West Coast, I can help with a tailor-made tour.

STGA

½ day / 1 day / extended / year-round; driver-guiding
Specialities: Landscape, History, Whisky, Geneaology, Golf

I have shared the delights of Scottish life and landscape with visitors to the country for over thirty years. As a professional geologist I began my guiding activities in the 1970’s when I led field trips and study tours to some of the most wild and beautiful places in the Highlands and Islands.
Over the next twenty years my knowledge and understanding of the history and culture of all things Scottish has made me much in demand for summer schools and lectures by some of Scotland’s Universities, both ancient and modern. Subjects ranging from whisky and water to Scottish Country Houses, Golf and Genealogy have entranced and entertained locals and visitors alike. I am a Blue Badge member of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association, the only professional geologist to be fully qualified to guide throughout Scotland. I am also a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.
