After many years in France and Italy, on the Riviera and Ski Resorts in both countries, I returned to the Highlands that I love. My carriers have ranged from Landscape Gardening, Photography to Villa Management on the French Riviera. I have always had a passion for Nature and Photography and I wish to share these passions and my language skills with visitors for Highland Tours.

Specialities: Highland and Scottish history & culture
I was born and brought up in the Highlands. I graduated with an honours degree in French and German from the University of Glasgow. During this time, I spent a year teaching English as a Foreign Language Assistant in Paris and a term at the University of Bamberg in Bavaria. Since 1995, I have been Principal Teacher of Languages in the Department of a large secondary school in the Highlands.
½ day / 1 day / year-round
Born in the south of Scotland but brought up in the Highlands, I have been guiding since 1996. Prior to that I lived and worked in Continental Europe. So grateful to be given the opportunity to show my country to visitors and always hope that as I do, they become as “passionate” as I am about Scotland.
Day and extended tours, available all year. Interests: Folklore and music; Scottish History
Having been born and brought up in the Highlands and Islands I have a deep and genuine interest in the history, culture and landscape of my homeland. After a lifetime spent teaching and being in administration in a large secondary school in the Highlands I look forward to sharing my country with visitors. A real Mackay, I am proud to wear my kilt!
½ day / 1 day / extended / year-round / driver-guiding
STGA Blue Badge Guide. Speciality: Scottish History and Culture
Born in Inverness and educated in England, I have spent more than half my life in the N.E. of Scotland. I have always worked with people and love showing visitors the beauties of Scotland and giving them an insight into our history and culture. Whilst training to be a guide, I worked on the open top buses taking people to Culloden, Cawdor Castle and Fort George and in a local winery which makes wines from the products of the countryside. I am a keen hill-walker and have travelled extensively in many countries thereby learning about other cultures.
At university, I studied French and Spanish and am qualified to guide in French. Having trained as a Blue Badge guide, I am happy to guide anywhere in Scotland and particularly enjoy extended tours but also city walking tours and driver-guiding.
Day Coach, Extended Coach, Driver Guiding
The Highlands have been my home for nearly twenty years following many years working and travelling in foreign parts. Trained as an accountant I now have the pleasure of teaching English and French and showing my wild and beautiful country to visitors. I live in a paradise with the mountains and moorland to look over me and the birds and the animals to keep me company. Let me show you Scotland.
Interests: History, Economics, Politics, Languages, Walking and Wildlife
STGA Regional Green Badge for the Northern Highlands,
½ day / 1 day / Extended coach All year round
I live in Forres, Moray, and have lived in this area for about six years now, gathering much information of varying kinds over this time.
I am very interested in and knowledgeable about Scotland’s history and that of the Northern Highlands and Moray regions, including local historic figures like MacBeth and Alexander Stewart, the Wolf of Badenoch.
I am also a keen gardener and very knowledgeable about plants and their medicinal properties, learning more all the time.
My other interest lies in the native wildlife, both terrestrial and marine.
Day and half-day, extended, year-round
I graduated with an honours degree in German and French from Aberdeen University, during which I spent an academic year at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, and went on to teach English in Lausanne, Switzerland. On my return to Scotland, I worked in the Scottish tourism industry at national and regional levels. Since moving to the Scottish Highlands in 1995, I have been tour guiding and lecturing in tourism. I specialise in German and French speaking markets, with a primary focus on cruise ships and corporate groups. Additionally, I act as local agent for ground-handlers organising shore excursions.
Full and half-day tours, year round.
I am fortunate to be able to call the Highlands of Scotland my home. I take pride in helping guests from near and far get the most out of their time in the North of Scotland. Sometimes the small details make just as memorable an impression as the more well-known sights. Running a successful holiday accommodation business gives me the opportunity to meet and talk to visitors from many countries and to give them an insight into life and culture in the Highlands. As a French and German speaker this is always a pleasure and I guide mostly in German although English is my first language.
Food for me is one of the great joys of life and, when I can, I love to share my enthusiasm for cooking, local produce and wild food.
